Amani Centre for Street Children is a nationally registered NGO based in Moshi, Kilimanjaro-Tanzania. Amani is committed to reducing the number of children living on the streets in Northern Tanzania by providing a safe place for homeless children to heal, grow, and learn and when possible reuniting them with their relatives.
Amani operates in Moshi and Arusha with headquarters in Moshi.
Amani is seeking to recruit several new, dynamic and inventive 'persons to fill the following positions

2; EDUCATION PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT OFFICER (EPIO; 1 POSITION)

Main purpose of the position:
We are looking for a strong and active personality in this new role of EPIO. The EPIO will work from the Amani Education Department but will work very closely with the Amani Social workers.
The EPIO must take active ownership, and full responsibility to improve the education standards of all Amani children and youth studying in private and government schools (esp. secondary and VTCs) outside of Amani.
This shall include guiding teachers and social workers on how to reduce school drop-outs. Also the EPIO shall assist Amani children and youth to plan and develop educational and behavioral strategies to make them succeed in school. The EPIO will personally visit poor performers and children/youth showing challenging behavior or truancy, at their respective schools and provide in-depth counseling to them.
The EPIO will also work with their school teachers, the head teachers and principals to develop strategies on how the performance of Amani students can be improved.

Qualifications:
•    Bachelor Degree or Diploma in teaching field
•    Fluency in oral and written English and Swahili languages.
•    A self-starter, who is ready and competent to work hard, under minimal supervision
•    Innovative, able to develop and implement new programs activities and new strategies to make our students outside succeed.
•    Experience and eagerness to work with children and youth who show difficult behavior and who are at the brink of school drop out
•    Proven experience in counseling children and youth on behavior and academics
•    Proven record keeping experience and management skills will be an added advantage.
•    Highly organized, pro-active, and on top of things.

3; SOCIAL WORKER - REUNIFICATION OFFICER 2 POSITIONS

Position Description:

The tasks and responsibilities of social worker at Amani Centre includes counseling, home visits, reunification, follow up visits, smooth intake procedures for new arrivals, keeping complete and confidential files of the children, report writing, family and community education, lobbing and advocacy, recreation with children, organizing self reliance instruction with youth, and leading! participating in workshop and seminars.

Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in Social Work or Sociology
•    Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable children
•    Commitment to children's rights, participation, and empowerment
•    Strong relational skills and ability to work with others as well as independently
•    Superior organizational skills, ability to multi-task and to handle multiple priorities
•    Strong writing and analytical skills
•    Honest and trustworthy
•    A strong command in English and Swahili

4; SOCIAL WORKER - STREET EDUCATOR AND DROP-LN CENTRE OFFICER-
1 POSITION.

Position Description:

Selected candidate in this position will work with street children on the streets in Moshi and Arusha with the primary purpose of building a relationship of trust and motivate children to leave the street.
S/he will reunify fresh (new) children in the streets locally in Arusha and Moshi. Escort children who want to leave the street to Amani Children's Home in Moshi. Run the Drop-In Centre in Arusha by conducting seminars and workshops (group sessions) to street children and keep appropriate records for all street children she/he is in contact with and share information within social work team.

Qualifications:
•    Bachelor degree or Diploma in Social Work or Sociology.
•    Good understanding about the realities of street children.
•    Minimum 2 years of proven experience in working with children and youth with difficult behaviors.
•    Strong dedication to work with street children and youth, and good skills to relate to them
•    Mature personality, preferably with a good (appropriate) sense of humor
•    Willingness to travel within Moshi and Arusha and to work irregular hours.

1; PRIMARY SCHOOL MEMKWA TEACHER (1 POSITION)

Position Description: The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching primary-level subjects, prepare and use teaching aids for Amani MEMKWA students, work with children with often impulsive and sometimes explosive behavior, and design lessons to suit age-specific Amani MEMKWA students. The teacher will also teach life skills and TEHAMA classes.

Qualifications:
•    Degree or Diploma in teaching field.
•    Proven ability to teach academic subjects at primary school level
•    Fluency in oral and written English and Swahili languages
•    Ability to communicate effectively with people from various cultures and backgrounds.
•    Proven participatory teaching methodologies
•    Creativity and ability to lead classrooms of children with different abilities.
•    Keen interest in working with former street children and to get them back up to speed in their education.
•    Willingness to learn, improve and open for criticism.
•    Flexibility to accept other official assignments.
